3rd Annual "Jump For Alzheimer's", Sunday July 12, 2009, - SkyDive Pepperell, MA
Hey Everyone!
Yes it is that time of year again when for some reason you just have this urge to jump out of a perfectly sound plane at 11,000 feet, all in the name of Alzheimer's!!! When I first started this fundraiser 3 years I ago I never expected the amount of enthusiasm and dedication from everyone I met along the way. For the first year's event I did not know what to expect. I did not even think for one minute that this would be a yearly event but it is now!! We had repeat jumpers, first timers, old and young, scared and very scared:) but the one thing we had in common was the determination too highlight this terrible disease and raise much needed funds along the way.
So now with the departure of the nasty New England winter that we had and with the emergence of sunny days and blue skies, it is only natural that we should decide to skydive again:)
A lot of people have been inquiring about this years event already so if I have not had the chance to correspond with you yet, please send me an email and I will get back to you straight away. Sponsorship cards will be available within the next week so I will either meet up personally or pop them in the post. There will also be cards available at both Porterbelly's Bar in Brighton and McGann's Pub next to the Garden.
I am hoping this year we will exceed last years number of jumpers and monies raised. I now have the ability to reach a larger audience since I am studying at UMass Boston. For interested students please feel free to tell all your friends about this great event. What a way to finish a semester!!!! I will also be putting posters around the campus so stay tuned.
As you can imagine, organizing such a big event needs a lot of willing hands so if you are interested in helping out in any way then please feel free to contact me!
We are starting an email data-base for people interested in jumping and attending. Please send us an email and we will be sure to keep you updated on information as it is set in place. Check back at the website periodically too for more updates!
There are going to be a lot of exciting things happening this year and we want to keep everyone in the loop. I have also included some useful information that will help us all in this year's jump. Keep checking the site for new info!
The response that I have received since last year's event has been overwhelming. It has had an incredible impact on my life in so many ways. It has helped me come to terms with my father's illness in ways I only dreamed of. Many people that took part in the event had their own personal experience with Alzheimer's in some shape or form. Being able to speak with people with similar stories and experiences and not feel awkward about it has helped me see this illness and my situation in a different light.
This is for you, Dad.
Cheers to all
Looking forward to catching up with all of you
Jason
The Jump For Alzheimer's 2007 Team
Thank You!!
Well, we pulled it off!! Jump For Alzheimer's 2007 and 2008 was a great success. We managed to raise over $30,000 to benefit the Alzheimer's Association.
I am so greatfull to everyone who took part in the event, Without you, it would not have happened. This year I am aiming big and hope to knock last year's amount out of the sky.....excuse the pun!!
First of all to the Jumpers, all 35 of you each year. Each one of you pledged to raise money and then jump out of a perfectly sound plane at 11,000 feet. You did it, you made this possible. Well done to each and every single one of you. I am hoping that everyone of you will be signing up again this year. I look forward to seeing you all again!
A special Thank you also to Connell and Siobhan Gallagher of The Irish Emigrant Newspaper. Most of you know that I worked at the paper and from day one when I brought this idea to both Connell and Siobhan they fully backed me and supported me in every way possible. Connell designed and printed our sponsorship cards. The paper also contributed editorial coverage, free adverts promoting the event and made a substantial donation on top of that......heartfelt thanks to both of you. We really could not have done this without your generosity. Watch the paper closely during the year as I will be again promoting the jump at various stages on the build-up to the event. Also check out www.IrishEmigrant.com. A big thank you also goes to Joseph James for designing my logo.
Thank you to Fran and all the staff at SkyDive Pepperell. You really did provide us with an amazing experience. Thanks for your patience and sheer professionalism. We look forward to holding our event with you again this year..... Want to learn more about SkyDive Pepperell? Check out www.skyjump.com.
All the very best
